If you haven’t tried to get in on the technological action, then you still have time! As OnLive closed beta signups are still available. This is a major step for what could be the next revolution in home videogame console/computer gaming. If you haven’t heard of it before, OnLive is a videogame platform announced at GDC 2009 that uses cloud computing (high end computers synchronized, rendered and stored on a remote server and delivered to you, the end user, online) to allow anyone on any computer or on a TV (using a small OnLive “MicroConsole” which simply plugs into your TV and an Ethernet Cable) to play games as if they were running a high-end computer! All you have to do is pay a subscription fee. It will be compatible with Windows XP, Vista and any Intel-based Mac running OSX and you can even play these high-end games on a low-end machine! Thus this is a very interesting experiment and could pose a legitamate challenge to the other consoles on the market. It’ll most likely launch next year and OnLive already has the support of Electronic Arts, Take-Two, Ubisoft, Epic Games, Atari, Codemasters, THQ, Warner Bros., 2D Boy and Eidos Interactive, who will be releasing all their biggest games for the platform. If you are one of those lucky few who is chosen for the closed beta, be sure to post your thoughts and opinions on the service in the comment box below. |

Monster Finder is first DSi-exclusive game Posted: 03 Sep 2009 02:07 AM PDT
It is the first game that is being developed exclusively and specifically for the Nintendo DSi, and therefore won’t work on normal “DS Phat” or “DS Lite” systems. Why would that be, you ask? Because this game actually uses the camera function of the DSi as a fundamental part of it’s gameplay. As you might have gleamed from the title, the game is another monster-capturing game in the style of Pokemon in which you use the cameras of the DSi to capture monsters. How exactly this is done wasn’t revealed, but I imagine that the game may actually have you take pictures of objects that it then turns into monsters. Which I think, would be AWESOME. The game will include over 100 monsters to track down. No other details were revealed other than a Winter 2009 Japanese release date. Via N4G |

Internet Channel for Wii is now free. Also gets an upgrade Posted: 02 Sep 2009 10:37 PM PDT
Previously the Internet Channel, which allows you to browse the Internet via the Opera Browser, cost players 500 Wii Points ($5) to download initially. However it was free for a limited time when Nintendo first released the system, and now they are going back to giving it away for free once again. And if you did pay $5 for it previously, Nintendo will reimburse you by giving you 500 Wii Points to spend on any NES game you like in late October. In addition, the Internet Channel Adobe Flash support has also been upgraded. Hopefully this will mean I can now watch more than just youtube on the thing . . . I”m always happy to expand on my ever-growing NES Virtual Console library too, so this definitely makes me happy. Now maybe I can buy one of those Mario classics that I couldn’t get myself to pay $5 for in the past since I’ve played so many different versions of them and already own several. |
