Bayonetta characters list

Posted: 12 Sep 2009 02:45 AM PDT

Bayonetta wallpaper
There is a character cast of no less than 20 in Bayonetta, the upcoming crazy action game from Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya, which he promises will “blow the doors off the action genre.” The game is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in January of 2010.

The game features a wide assortment of both human characters (friends and foes), enemies and bosses. As you’d expect from a Devil May Cry successor, the enemy designs are all intricate and dark, though with a touch of “futuristic” as seen in Devil May Cry 4. Without further ado . . .

Here is a list of characters in the game:

HUMANS
1. Bayonetta — Favorite Quote: “I’m sorry, I forgot to mention one of the reasons I hunt your kind. You’re much too ugly not to put out of your misery.”
2. Jeanne — Favorite Quote: “What’s the matter, sweetie? Afraid of something, are you?”
3. Rodin — Favorite Quote: “Your fights are yours alone. I’m only here to watch my handiwork in action.”
4. Enzo — Favorite Quote: “At least let me get a drink at Rodin’s before you start drilling me.”
5. Luka — Favorite Quote: “I’m not your pet. The name is Luka. A name you better remember!”
6. Cereza — Favorite Quote: “Mummy is a witch, and witches protect people and are very strong.”
7. Yet To Be Revealed Character

MONSTERS
8. Temperantia
9. Ardor
10. Inspired
11. Lustitia
12. Affinity
13. Beloved
14. Fortitudo
15. Fairness
16. Fearless
17. Grace & Glory
18. Harmony

System and game sales for August 2009 in the USA

Posted: 12 Sep 2009 02:30 AM PDT

Have you seen the new DSi yet? It's shiny
August’s American video game sales data from the NPD is in, and like almost any month the past year, it shows an unchanged result: A Nintendo system on top, this time the DS and DSi handhelds outsold all other systems by a long shot.

NPD analyst, Anita Frazier, had this to say: “All hardware systems with the exception of the PS2 realized an increase in unit sales over July. The PS3 captured the greatest increase month-over-month with unit sales boosted by 72% over July levels.

There is a lot of speculation about Wii and whether Nintendo will take a price cut as sales comps to last year show declines. I do think it’s interesting to note that the Wii is still selling at levels comparable to what the PS2 was doing at about this point in its lifecycle.”

Video game hardware overview:

1. Nintendo DS — 552,900
2. Nintendo Wii — 277,400
3. Xbox 360 — 215,400
4. PlayStation 3 — 210,000
5. PlayStation Portable — 140,300
6. PlayStation 2 — 105,900

The NPD mentions that “As many predicted, Madden NFL 10 captured the top spot for the month, selling nearly 1.9 million units across its five SKU’s.

With the introduction of Beatles: Rock Band and Guitar Hero 5 in September, a lot of folks have inquired about the performance of these titles and the music/dance genre. While sales of this genre are down 46% year-to-date, unit sales are down much less because lower prices are playing into the dollar sales decline. It’s still the third best-selling genre for the year after General Action and Multiple/Other Sports (where Wii Fit resides).”

Video game software overview top 20:

Madden NFL 10 for Xbox 3601. Madden NFL 10 (Xbox 360) — 928,000
2. Wii Sports Resort with Wii Motion Plus (Wii) — 754,000
3. Madden NFL 10 (PS3) — 665,000
4. Batman: Arkham Asylum* (Xbox 360) — 303,000
5. Batman: Arkham Asylum* (PS3) — 290,000
6. Madden NFL 10 (PS2) — 160,000
7. Dissidia: Final Fantasy (PSP) — 130,000
8. Wii Fit with Balance Board* (Wii) — 128,000
9. Mario Kart with Wheel (Wii) — 120,000
10. Fossil Fighters (DS) — 92,000
11. Mario Kart DS (DS)
12. New Super Mario Bros. (DS)
13. Wii Play with Wii Remote (Wii)
14. Pokemon Platinum Version (DS)
15. NCAA Football 10 (Xbox 360)
16. Professor Layton And The Diabolical Box (DS)
17. Madden NFL 10 (Wii)
18. Wolfenstein (Xbox 360)
19. EA Sports Active Bundle (Wii)
20. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10* (Wii)

(*includes CE, GOTY editions, bundles, etc. but not those bundled with hardware)

Ms. Frazier ended with “The industry realized its sixth consecutive month-over-month decline, and while improved over the last several months, it’s still a notable decline. The back four months of the year would have to be up 14% in aggregate for 2009 to come in flat in comparison to 2008 sales.

The price cuts implemented on the PS3 and Xbox 360 hardware already made an impact on unit sales, despite having been executed fairly late in the month. It will be interesting to see the full impact of the new price points [and the new PS3 Slim] on September sales.”

DJ Hero Daft Punk soundtracks

Posted: 11 Sep 2009 09:38 PM PDT

Daft Punk wallpaper
Daft Punk is featured heavily in DJ Hero and will even have some exclusive songs in the game reports Rolling Stone.

This will definitely please the electronica fans out there who may have been weary of all the hip-hop featured in DJ Hero. And Daft Punk is more than just included on the soundtrack, in fact the group themselves will also appear in the game as avatars as well as set designs that they created.

That’s in addition to at least 11 exclusive Daft Punk mixes that will also appear in the game.

Here is a partial list of Daft Punk songs in DJ Hero:

1. Daft Punk “Around the World” vs. Young MC “Bust A Move”
2. Daft Punk “Da Funk” vs. NASA “Strange Enough ft. Karen O, ODB and Fatlip”
3. Daft Punk “Da Funk” vs. Queen “Another One Bites the Dust”
4. Daft Punk “Robot Rock” vs. Hashim “Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)”
5. Daft Punk “Robot Rock” vs. Queen “We Will Rock You”
6. Daft Punk “Short Circuit” vs. Boogie Down Productions “Jack Of Spades”
7. Daft Punk “Technologic” vs. Gary Numan “Cars”
8. Daft Punk “Television Rules The Nation” vs. No Doubt “Hella Good”

DJ Hero will be released on October 27th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Wii.

Batman: Arkham Asylum sells 2 million copies. Warner Bros. restructures DC Comics

Posted: 11 Sep 2009 09:13 PM PDT

Batman: Arkham Asylum Joker Capture wallpaper
Batman: Arkham Asylum has sold nearly 2 million copies reports the LA Times. This makes the new Batman videogame a huge success and one that has defied all odds (comic-book videogame, licensed videogame, Batman videogame . . . none of which screams success. Though it should).

This is a great thing for Superhero videogames and licensed games in general, as it proves that comic book videogames can be big sellers if given the time, the effort, and the attention to detail (remaining true to the source material) that these games have always deserved. And something that developer Rocksteady Studios deserves huge kudos for accomplishing.

The game was released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC not even a full month ago. Although it’s not known if the sales are worldwide or not, we assume they are and include all platforms. Still, it’s a great success story that has hopefully raised the bar for superhero-based games in the future.

Warner Bros. also announced a major restructuring of DC Comics that will allow the publisher more fuller control over DC Comic’s properties across all media — Videogames, Television, Movies, Comics, etc. This is a response to Disney buying Marvel Comics for $4 billion, and will allow the company to better leverage it’s comic properties to compete with the infinite-cash-filled Marvel.

Hopefully this will mean better things for DC Comics and not turn into a disastrous direction, as it WILL mean that the suits at Warner Bros. will have more say than the guys who actually write the comics. However sometimes that outside influence is a good thing, as has been proved by most of Marvel’s movies, almost all of which have been huge hits both critically and commercially.

LucasArts confirms Lucidity. Releasing on Xbox Live Arcade and PC this month

Posted: 11 Sep 2009 08:16 PM PDT

Lucidity LucasArts puzzle game screenshot. Coming this month for Xbox Live & PC
Lucidity has been confirmed by LucasArts via GameTrailers TV.

The game stars a girl-named Sophie who must be guided throughout the game’s 30 levels as the player manipulates the environment to keep her out of harms way. She will continously and endlessly walk through the level as the player uses stairs, trampolines, slingshots and other objects to keep her from hurting herself or being attacked by enemies.

This side-scrolling puzzle game also features a beautiful pop-up book art-style that is really pleasing to the eyes, as you can see in the gameplay videos below. It will be released on Xbox Live Arcade and PC before the end of the month.

Personally I hope the game also comes to WiiWare or DSiWare, as the game seems perfect for those systems which use a pointing device.

Here are some videos of the game in action.

Dino Crisis: Regina and other character bios

Posted: 11 Sep 2009 07:44 AM PDT

Regina wallpaper (Dino Crisis 1)
Dino Crisis has a large cast of characters in the original PlayStation survival horror classic from Capcom. Since the game is going to be re-released on PlayStation Network soon for download on PS3 and PSP, we thought it was good timing to take a look at the characters in the game.

And don’t forget to check out our Dino Crisis 1 walkthrough and Dino Crisis 2 walkthrough video guides.

Cast of characters and bios for Dino Crisis 1:

1. Regina (Stephanie Morgenstern) – The player’s main character; Regina is an elite member of a special task force and a weapon’s specialist. She is excellent at handling all firearms. She also modifies weapons as a hobby. Regina is intelligent, agile, and excels at stealth actions. She analyzes all situations and takes action based on her good judgment.

2. Gail (Richard Yearwood) – An experienced veteran working with Regina on this mission, Gail has developed an impressive reputation based on his icy judgment and strong will. For him, a mission is a game of chess, and everything in it-including team members-is a tool to be manipulated at will. He acts as the leader of the team in the game and carries an Assault Rifle.

3. Rick (Alex Karzis) – Rick is gifted with numerous special abilities including computer expertise, medical knowledge and heavy equipment/vehicle operation. He is humane and always puts his team members first. His compassion for friend and foe alike sometimes presents an obstacle to completing a mission. He is the third member of your team in the game and his expert computer hacking skills often come in handy. He carries a Sniper Rifle.

4. Cooper (Robert Tinkler) – The fourth member of the extraction team. He is blown off course at the start of the mission and eaten by a Tyrannosaurus. The rest of the team never learns this, and he is declared MIA.

5. Tom (Bino Tautorrez) – An agent of SORT, who has infiltrated the Ibis Island facility to investigate the reports of a new type of weapon being researched. He is wounded by a Pteranodon, and later killed by a Velociraptor to save Rick.

6. Dr. Edward Kirk (Adrian Truss) – Research scientist Dir. Kirk was reported to have died in a lab explosion three years ago. Through young, Dr. Kirk is an authority on energy technology. When the explosion occurred, he was experimenting with the ultimate clean energy known as “Third Energy”. This egocentric genius is totally focused on his research and doesn’t care how it might affect society. He is selfish, highly emotional, and unable to separate wrong from right. He’ll stop at nothing to complete his research. When approached by the Borginian Republic due to his Third Energy Theory, he was asked to use said energy to develop a new kind of weapon. And promised all the funding, facilities, researchers and equipment needed for the job. During the course of the game, he will act as the primary villain and you’ll discover what really happened to him and the mystery behind his presumed death and his research.
